LOOKING FORWARD TO THE LATIUM WINE FESTIVAL: NEW ONLINE PLATFORM TO HIGHLIGHT LAZIO VINEYARDS
The Latium Wine Festival is the first digital platform for Lazio wines to be firmly defined on the oenophile map. Wine festivals are always popular, but what makes this event unique is that it will highlight only the regional vineyards of Lazio that place a heavy emphasis on enhancing their territory through sustainability. On November 20th and 21st, the Latium Wine Festival will be hosting two full-day events on their digital platform.
Lazio is a region rich in vineyards. However at a national and even more so, international level, the winemakers of Lazio are not recognized for their territorial identity. It is well documented that wine has been present in Lazio since ancient times. Yet today the wine and region of Lazio itself is little known. Overshadowed in part by its capital, Rome, Lazio has not yet found a way to highlight its own cultural and natural assets. These are the two reasons why the platform Latium Wine Festival was born. Firstly, to showcase the unique bouquet and body that represents Lazio wine and secondly, to promote visibility and sustianable longevity of Lazio’s cultural traditions.
Fourteen vineyards – that are particularly representative of the territory – will participate in this first appointment:
CASTELLO DI TORRE IN PIETRA in Fiumicino, PRINCIPE PALLAVICINI in Colonna, SAN GIOVENALE in Blera, ÔMINA ROMANA in Velletri, TERRE DI MARFISA in Farnese, MARCO CARPINETI in Cori, CAPIZUCCHI in Rome, ANTICA CANTINA LEONARDI in Montefiascone, CANTINA SANT’ANDREA in Terracina, MARIA ERNESTA BERUCCI in Piglio, CASALE DELLA IORIA in Acuto, AGRICOLA SANT’EUFEMIA in Cisterna di Latina, CASALE DEL GIGLIO in Le Ferriere, and TENUTA DI FIORANO located in Ciampino.
The Latium Wine Festival project has also attracted a pool of experts, who joined the festival’s scientific committee, including: Alessandro Scorsone, Riccardo Velasco, Attilio Scienza, Pier Giacomo Sottoriva, Daniela Scrobogna, Mario Gaeta, Luca Boccoli, Floriana Risuglia and Claudia Meo. They are determined to unite forces to launch Lazio wines in the systematically best way to an international audience. They intend to communicate Lazio’s richness; the cultural, historical, archaeological and landscape fabric that makes up the territory while at the same time showcasing the entrepreneurial innovation that characterizes Lazio today.
The two digital days are just a start. The events in the area will take place in five exclusive locations. They will integrate the wines’ histories with artistic performances, music, theater, live painting and hint to the presentation events soon to happen abroad, of which the first will be in London in June 2021.
